Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Thetford, you must be at least 21 years old, though age requirements may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers younger than 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required. You must also provide current payment details and a security deposit, along with any other conditions specified in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Thetford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a comprehensive inspection and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find detailed coverage information and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Subletting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Do not exceed the specified passenger or weight limits, and avoid driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior permission.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thetford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
