All vehicle rentals require a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire Thetford, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Any additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met as well.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Thetford location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by you. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was provided, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us right away, as late returns may result in additional fees. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows can incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or permitting unauthorized drivers is also not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating the vehicle outside the specified geographical boundaries without permission are violations of our policy.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thetford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from the use of our services. Our overall liability for any claims is capped at the total amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
